“As a leadership resource, it is a significant and important work, and we commend you for your heart to make this available through your vision and hard work. It will also benefit a great deal aspiring Pacific and Maori ECE teachers seeking to develop as leaders and who are seeking to grow their leadership experience in ECE.” – Valuniu Fitu Ah-Young, New Zealand Tertiary College Advisory Committee.
Weaving Your Leadership Whāriki
Whāriki is the Māori word for a woven mat, usually woven out of strands of flax. There isn’t just one thing that makes a great leader, but rather a weaving together of many strands.
No leader’s Whāriki would be the same as we all weave our own unique pattern of experiences, strengths, talents, dispositions, wisdoms and characteristics into our Leadership Whāriki.
This book is a valuable resource for seasoned leaders, new leaders and aspiring leaders alike and will help you to weave a strong, complex Whāriki that you and your entire team can stand upon. So that together, from this foundation, you can all thrive and fly!
